Features of growing seed potatoes Evolution
Variety Evolution - very intense, requires attention and care, but gives a hundredfold due to the high yield and presentation. The variety ripens 10-12 days later than the " Riviera " standard, but has larger tubers, very good presentation.
When digging, there are practically no mechanical damages and their manifestations on potatoes. It is possible to use "Zenkor" in medium doses. The use of metribuzin (Zenkor) may result in discoloration of the leaves, but does not affect the yield in any way.
Variety Evolution has high resistance to common scab, viruses and golden potato nematode. Potatoes of this variety are sensitive to late blight of tubers and leaves. To prevent disease, it is worth taking a break between watering so that the leaves and stems dry out. Remember that late blight begins to develop in a humid environment within 16-18 hours. Allowing the plants to dry out reduces the risk of late blight spread.
Large, dark red, oval tubers with light flesh grow best in light, sandy soils and look great. When preparing seeds of the Evolution variety, repeated breaking off of the sprouts is undesirable. It is possible to plant non-germinated seed tubers directly from storage. Evolution requires a large amount of water, therefore, on irrigation, the yield reaches more than 50 t/ha. According to the experience of some of our clients, Evolution also shows excellent results on black soil.
The variety requires intensive fungicidal protection. It is important to strictly adhere to the schedule of preventive spraying against late blight, since the variety is sensitive to leaf blight.
Requires careful harvesting, as the variety is sensitive to mechanical damage. Two weeks after the destruction of the tops is enough before harvesting. The dormant period of tubers is short, therefore, it requires responsible storage of seeds at low temperatures.
Variety Evolution, like all red varieties, suitable for growing in the second harvest. Manages to form a crop of more than 40 tons per hectare.
